The stuff you think about as mayor is … interesting.

For example, I have taken pictures of sewer access covers (“manhole covers” in less enlightened towns) all over the world.

You may not have noticed, but ours are particularly nice, emblazoned with a beautiful image of our state capitol in what really should be the new city logo.

Mayor Dave Blogs About Plant's Last Day

Friday is Joel Plant’s last day in my office. Joel has handled neighborhood issues for me for the last three years.

Police and fire, community services and Community Development Block Grant programs were all areas that were in Joel’s portfolio as well as many other responsibilities.

He’s leaving to take a job as chief of staff for Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn.

Gov. Doyle Appoints New Dane County DA

Gov. Jim Doyle announced the appointment of Ismael Ozanne as Dane County district attorney on Friday, filling the vacancy left by Brian Blanchard's election to the court of appeals.

Doyle praised Ozanne, who spent 10 years as a prosecutor in the district attorney's office before serving as deputy secretary and before that, executive assistant at the state Department of Corrections. He hailed Ozanne's commitment to protect citizens.
