25,000 tickets already sold, rep says   

In its 15th year, the Wisconsin Film Festival will present 158 films between five area theaters from April 11-18.

The festival -- programmed by the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arts Institute and the UW Department of Communication Arts' film studies program -- will offer four extra days of films, doubling its viewing schedule over years past.

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office will offer an internet safety presentation on protecting children to interested parents March 20.

According to a statement, the free event will focus on issues surrounding Facebook, cyber bulling and online predators.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children shows one in three teens have experienced online harassment, one of several statistics the statement highlighted.

The presentation will take place at the Westport Meeting Room at 5387 Mary Lake Rd. at 6 p.m.

Area businesses collaborate for 'Wish on a Website'

A Monona woman together with three area businesses are offering their services to a lucky Dane County non-profit through a contest.

Maggie Baum of Maggie B. Communications partnered with Waterfront Graphic Design, Beth Skogen Photography and StoryFirst Media to create the "Wish on a Website" promotion, offering the opportunity of a variety of services to help out a community organization.

In a news release on her website, Baum said the idea behind the contest is to give back to the community.

"In this economic climate organizations are really fighting for resources and fundraising dollars and this is one small way we can help make their efforts go a little farther," Baum wrote.

The winner will receive a website design, a photography session with free images, a 2-minute documentary video and copywriting to help the chosen organization better reach the community.
