Recent thefts from cars prompt reminder to secure property | Crime
Police reminded residents of a south Madison neighborhood to secure property following a recent pattern of area thefts.
In a neighborhood alert online, police said an unknown person had entered unlocked cars in the Gilson Street area. Coins, small electronics and other miscellaneous property were reportedly stolen.
Police said residents should keep valuables that are in vehicles out of plain sight. Residents should also lock car doors. Police emphasized that many of the recent thefts were to vehicles that were not locked.
Police asked anyone with information about recent thefts in the Bay Creek Neighborhood to call South District Madison police at 266-5938.
The alert also said residents should call 911 if they see suspicious people in their neighborhood.
