Dean Health Holds Medical Supply Drive

October is National Physical Therapy Month, and Dean Clinic Physical Therapists are celebrating by cleaning out their basements, closets and garages.  They are in search of any medical supplies that may be in working order.  That includes, but is not limited to, braces, walkers, crutches, accessible clean bathroom equipment, wheel chairs, etc.

You can help as well, by donating any medical supplies you no longer need.  The following clinics will be accepting donations through Nov. 15.

  • Dean Clinic – West
  • Dean Clinic – East
  • Dean Clinic – Fish Hatchery
  • Dean Clinic – Sun Prairie
  • Dean Clinic – Northview
  • Dean Clinic Corporate Offices – Therapy Center

"As physical therapists, we are here to help make people’s lives better," said Dean Clinic Physical Therapist AnneMarie Bell.  "Sometimes a brace, for example, can mean the difference between a person walking and not.  We want to help make those opportunities available to as many as possible."

Once all the supplies are collected, they will be turned over to Cornerstone, a local nonprofit that runs a program called Med-Can.  As part of the program, the donated supplies will be shipped directly to developing countries for hospital furnishings or to organizations performing medical missions.

"What might be collecting dust in someone’s closet, might be exactly what someone else needs to get up and get going," said Bell.  "We are excited to help make a difference not just in our community, but around the world."
